SPECHT (German for woodpecker) is the successor of our Carillon. The solenoids now strike the bars directly, achieving an extremely high repetition rate and a more percussive sound. After various material/volume tests, a cigar box proved to be the most suitable resonator. In addition, the instrument can now be mounted directly on a standard micro stand. We built 2 modules with 8 bars each. There are two modes to play the bars: prepared with felt and thus rather muffled, and the unprepared mode, then the iron pin strikes the bar directly and it sounds metallic and louder.

SPECHT ist der Nachfolger unseres Carillons. Die Solenoids schlagen die Klangstäbe nun direkt an und erreichen dadurch eine extrem hohe Repetitionsrate und einen perkussiveren Klang. Als Resonanzkörper hat sich nach verschiedenen Material/Volumentests eine Zigarrenbox am geeignetsten herausgestellt. Zudem kann das Instrument nun direkt der auf einen Standart-Mikroständer montiert werden. Wir haben 2 Module mit je 8 Klangstäben gebaut. Es gibt zwei Modi, um die Klangstäbe anzuspielen: mit Filz präpariert und damit eher dumpf, und den unpräparierten Modus, dann schlägt der Eisenstift direkt auf den Klangstab und es klingt metallisch und lauter.
