The Berlin-based ensemble gamut inc – composers Marion Wörle and Maciej Śledziecki – focuses on music theatre and machine music, with a thematic emphasis on the critical engagement with technology. Since 2013, gamut inc has performed internationally with automated pipe organs and custom-built robots, while also organizing concert and festival formats. In addition to machine music, their work includes compositions for film and theatre, including the Junges Staatstheater Berlin.
gamut inc operates on a project basis, collaborating with a wide range of artists. With ZEROTH LAW (2023), they completed their human-machine music theatre trilogy at the Deutsche Oper Berlin – which also includes Rossum’s Universal Robots (2022) – both in collaboration with the RIAS Kammerchor and the 50-piece robot orchestra of the Logos Foundation.
Their organ installation AGGREGAT#11, commissioned by Sónar Festival, premiered in 2022 and was subsequently acquired for the permanent collection of Palau Güell in Barcelona. In 2025, they developed BLACK SQUARE, a wind-dynamic modular pipe organ built by Belgian organ builder Tony Decap – an instrument with 128 individually controllable pipes that enables real-time stereophony, acoustic resynthesis, and microtonality.
Since 2019, they have curated the AGGREGATE Festival in Berlin, dedicated to computer-controlled pipe organs and held at iconic venues such as the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and the Chapel of Reconciliation.
The ensemble has received commissions from Deutschlandfunk Kultur, SWR Kultur, CTM Festival, Sónar Festival, and Orgelpark Amsterdam, with invitations to international festivals including Sonic Acts, New Music Gdansk, Numusic Stavanger, Vancouver New Music, Acht Brücken, and Berghain Berlin. Their discography includes Ex Machina (Bolt Records), Sum To Infinity (Morphine Records), AGGREGATE (WERGO), and Radiating (AGGREGATE Records).
Their projects have been supported by the Federal Cultural Foundation (RELOAD), Kunststiftung NRW, the Goethe-Institut’s Villa Kamogawa residency in Kyoto, and the Berlin New Music Grant. In 2025, supported by Musikfonds, the ensemble researched the use of Artificial Intelligence in organ composition – a work that continues in the follow-up project SPECTRAL DIALOGUES (2026/27), funded by the Federal Cultural Foundation’s “Art and AI” program.

Das Berliner Ensemble gamut inc – die Komponist:innen Marion Wörle und Maciej Śledziecki – widmet sich Musiktheater und Maschinenmusik mit einem thematischen Schwerpunkt auf dem kritischen Umgang mit Technologie. Seit 2013 tritt gamut inc international mit automatisierbaren Pfeifenorgeln und selbstgebauten Robotern auf und veranstaltet Konzert- sowie Festivalformate. Ihre Arbeiten umfassen neben Maschinenmusik auch Kompositionen für Film und Theater, unter anderem für das Junge Staatstheater Berlin.
gamut inc arbeitet projektbezogen mit unterschiedlichsten Künstler:innen zusammen. Mit ZEROTH LAW (2023) vollendeten sie ihre Mensch-Maschine-Musiktheater-Trilogie an der Deutschen Oper Berlin – die auch Rossums Universal Robots (2022) umfasst –, beide in Zusammenarbeit mit dem RIAS Kammerchor und dem 50-köpfigen Roboterorchester der Logos Foundation.
Ihre Orgelinstallation AGGREGAT#11, ein Auftragswerk des Sónar Festivals, wurde 2022 uraufgeführt und anschließend für die ständige Sammlung des Palau Güell in Barcelona erworben. 2025 entstand mit BLACK SQUARE eine winddynamische Modularpfeifenorgel, gebaut von dem belgischen Orgelbauer Tony Decap – ein Instrument mit 128 individuell steuerbaren Pfeifen, das Stereophonie, akustische Resynthese und Mikrotonalität in Echtzeit ermöglicht.
Seit 2019 kuratieren sie das AGGREGATE Festival in Berlin, das computergesteuerten Pfeifenorgeln gewidmet ist und in der Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, der Auenkirche, der Sankt Hedwigs-Kathedrale und der Kapelle der Versöhnung stattfindet.
Das Ensemble erhielt Kompositionsaufträge von Deutschlandfunk Kultur, SWR Kultur, CTM Festival, Sónar Festival und Orgelpark Amsterdam sowie Einladungen zu internationalen Festivals, darunter Sonic Acts, New Music Gdansk, Numusic Stavanger, Vancouver New Music, Acht Brücken und Berghain Berlin. Sie veröffentlichten Ex Machina (Bolt Records), Sum To Infinity (Morphine Records), AGGREGATE (WERGO) und Radiating (AGGREGATE Records).
Ihre Projekte wurden unter anderem gefördert durch das RELOAD-Stipendium der Kulturstiftung des Bundes, die Kunststiftung NRW, das Villa Kamogawa-Stipendium des Goethe-Instituts in Kyoto, das Arbeitsstipendium Neue Musik Berlin sowie ein Global-Stipendium (Kanada, 2024). Mit einem Stipendium des Musikfonds erforschte das Ensemble 2025 den Einsatz von Künstlicher Intelligenz in der Orgelkomposition – eine Arbeit, die sich im Folgeprojekt SPECTRAL DIALOGUES (2026/27) fortsetzt, gefördert durch die Kulturstiftung des Bundes im Rahmen des Programms Kunst und KI.
