The Bowjo is a combined three-string monochord driven by magnetic fields generated by E-Bows. The position of the E-Bows can be controlled along the string. It is also possible to adjust the distance to the string. In this way, this instrument allows a rich spectrum of timbres. The name Bowjo is derived from our first experiments with a banjo. Unfortunately, the instrument was very unreliable, very prone to errors, and difficult to transport. This instrument was replaced by the Bowjo/B2.

Das Bowjo ist ein kombiniertes dreigängiges Monochord, das durch Magnetfelder angetrieben wird, die von E-Bows erzeugt werden. Die Position der E-Bows kann entlang der Saite angesteuert werden. Es kann auch der Abstand zur Saite eingestellt werden. Auf diese Weise ermöglicht dieses Instrument ein reiches Spektrum an Klangfarben. Der Name Bowjo leitet sich von unseren ersten Experimenten mit einem Banjo ab. Leider war das Instrument sehr unzuverlässig, sehr anfällig für Fehler, und schwer zu transportieren. Dieses Instrument wurde durch das Bowjo/B2 ersetzt.
